Achilleus Security is NOW recruiting experienced and qualified Spectator Safety Event Stewards to join our growing London event team.

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and professional people who already hold a recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety (QCF / RQF / NVQ) and would like the opportunity to work at football matches, stadiums, sporting fixtures, concerts, festivals and other major events throughout London and the surrounding areas.

There may also be opportunities for additional work at venues and events throughout Essex, Suffolk, Hampshire, Dorset and the Home Counties for team members who are happy to travel.

This is a part-time, casual position, with work offered on an as-and-when-required basis. It is particularly suited to experienced event safety professionals looking for flexible work alongside their existing commitments.

Our qualified Spectator Safety Stewards are a vital part of the safety, security and customer service operation at every event and venue at which we work.

You will be working directly with members of the public and forming part of the operational safety team responsible for helping to provide a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for spectators, guests, colleagues and everyone attending the event.

We understand the Event Safety and Security Industry and recognise that many experienced and qualified stewards work for more than one organisation. We have no issue with this.

SPECTATOR SAFETY QUALIFICATION – ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT

This vacancy is specifically for already-qualified Spectator Safety Stewards.

To be considered for this position, applicants MUST already hold one of the following:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety – QCF / RQF / NVQ; or
  • Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety – QCF / RQF / NVQ; or
  • An appropriate recognised equivalent qualification.

You will be required to provide a copy of your qualification certificate as part of the recruitment process.

Applicants who are currently undertaking a Spectator Safety qualification but have not yet achieved their qualification are not eligible for this particular vacancy.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Applicants must:

  • Be 18 years of age or over
  • Already hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety (QCF / RQF / NVQ), or recognised equivalent
  • Be able to provide evidence of the qualification during the recruitment process
  • Have a good command of written and spoken English
  • Be professional, reliable and punctual
  • Be willing and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Be available for event work, which is predominantly during evenings and weekends
  • Be prepared to undertake ongoing training and Continuing Professional Development
  • Be physically capable of carrying out a safety-critical role, which may involve prolonged periods of standing, walking and using stairs
  • Be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions
  • Be able to attend the shifts they have accepted and committed to

RECRUITMENT & SCREENING REQUIREMENTS

As part of our recruitment and screening process, applicants must be able to provide:

  • Photographic proof of identity
  • Evidence of their Right to Work in the UK
  • Recent and acceptable proof of address
  • Evidence of their Level 2 or Level 3 Spectator Safety qualification
  • A minimum five-year checkable history for screening and vetting purposes
  • Any additional documentation reasonably required to complete our recruitment, screening and vetting process

Please note: being able to provide a satisfactory five-year checkable history is an essential requirement of the role.

All team members are engaged and paid through PAYE. We do not offer these roles on a self-employed or UTR basis.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE?

As a Qualified Spectator Safety Event Steward, you will form part of the operational team responsible for helping to maintain the safety and wellbeing of spectators, guests, staff and other people attending the venues and events at which we work.

Your duties will vary depending upon the venue, event and position to which you are deployed, but may include:

  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Welcoming and assisting spectators and guests
  • Monitoring access and egress points
  • Providing information and directions
  • Supporting venue crowd management and spectator safety plans
  • Monitoring crowds for signs of distress, overcrowding, unsafe behaviour or disorder
  • Identifying and reporting potential safety hazards
  • Reporting suspicious or concerning behaviour
  • Ticket validation and accreditation checks
  • Assisting with spectator ingress and egress
  • Monitoring the safe movement and circulation of spectators
  • Monitoring designated areas, stands, concourses, entrances and exits
  • Supporting emergency evacuation and invacuation procedures
  • Responding appropriately to incidents and emergencies in accordance with your training and instructions
  • Assisting vulnerable spectators or those requiring additional support
  • Reporting and recording accidents, incidents, irregularities and near misses
  • Supporting venue rules, policies and safety procedures
  • Maintaining safe working environments
  • Following instructions from Supervisors, venue management, Safety Officers and the event control structure

As a qualified Spectator Safety Steward, you will be expected to understand the responsibilities associated with your qualification and apply your training appropriately while deployed.

Previous experience working within football stadiums, sporting venues, concerts, festivals or other major events would be advantageous.
